Virginia Western Singers to Host Spring Concert April 27

The Virginia Western Singers announce they will host a spring concert at 7 p.m. on April 27 at Whitman Theater on the campus of Virginia Western Community College. The show will feature a wide variety of popular songs and include a “Kids Take the Stage” segment where children can join the group in a family-friendly sing-a-long. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children not singing, and free for children who sing or Virginia Western students with student IDs.

The Virginia Western Singers is a group of 10 singers who perform pop, country, rock, showtune and a capella styles of music. The Singers travel throughout the Roanoke area serving as representatives for the college and lending their talents for many events in the area.  The group began with auditions in September, they performed nine Christmas shows in December, they opened their spring concert series last week with a performance for over 1,000 people during the New Horizons conference at Hotel Roanoke.

“We can’t wait for the community to see the amazing talent that Virginia Western has to offer,” said Laura Hall, director of the group and Virginia Western faculty member.  “I am so proud of them and the hard work they have put into their school work and to our singing group. I invite everyone to come out and join us, and to celebrate the success of our community college students and hear some wonderful music.”

The concert will include music such as “Seasons of Love,” from Rent; “A Million Dreams, from The Greatest Showman; “Living on a Prayer,” by Bon Jovi,” Castle on the Hill” from Ed Sheeran; “Wagon Wheel,” by Old Crow Medicine Show; “Fire to the Rain,” by Adele, and much more. During “Kids Take the Stage,” children ages 4-12 can come up to sing “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana along with the members of the Singers.
