Grammy and Dove Award Winning Songwriter Cynthia Clawson to Perform In Roanoke

Cynthia Clawson

Referred to by many as the “singer’s singer” and called “the most awesome voice in gospel music” by Billboard Magazine, Cynthia Clawson will perform in Roanoke at Calvary Baptist Church at 7:00 p.m on Thursday, May 2nd.  Clawson has received a Grammy and five Dove awards for her work as a songwriter, vocalist and musician. Her career has spanned over five decades with over twenty-five recordings to her credit.

Cynthia has reached millions throughout the world with her music. She was just three years old when her father first asked her to sing in the small church he pastored and Cynthia hasn’t stopped since – singing in churches all over the world and London’s Wembley Stadium. Cynthia has been honored to be a frequent guest artist on Bill and Gloria Gaither’s Homecoming Series.

Her rendition of “Softly and Tenderly” set the evocative tone for the soundtrack of the Academy Award winning movie The Trip to Bountiful. Cynthia recorded the song “You Are Home” on the 2014 soundtrack album for the movie Heaven Is for Real.

For a decade, Cynthia performed as a guest artist for Conspirare, a Grammy-winning choral group based in Austin, Texas under the direction of Craig Hella Johnson.
