The event builds on the success of Business Summits the Mayor held in 2017 and early 2018, with the continued goal of introducing new and prospective business owners to best practices for streamlining the opening and operation of a business in the City of Roanoke.
Pros and cons of owning a business will be discussed, including guidance for financing options, grants, business resources, business license acquisition, and proper permitting. It will also feature a panel discussion of minority business owners successfully operating businesses in Roanoke.
“Small businesses are a key part of our vibrant economy in Roanoke, but starting a new business can often be a challenge,” states Mayor Sherman Lea. “This free program is designed to provide valuable information for individuals considering launching a business in Roanoke or who currently have a small business and feel they wish to learn more.”
The Business Summit will be sponsored by Freedom First Credit Union and supported by the Roanoke Small Business Development Center and the City of Roanoke’s Department of Economic Development. Registration is required through EVENTBRITE.
