Local Company Drops Imports Due to Tariffs

Church Furniture Store stops stocking signature chairs manufactured in China in favor of chairs made in North America, in response to looming tariffs and in support of the proposed USMCA.

In response to the recent tariffs on certain goods that are imported from China, Church Furniture Store, well-known maker and distributor of church furniturein Rocky Mount, has announced that they will no longer stock chairs manufactured in China. Instead, the company who has supplied America’s churches with furnishings and supplies for 27 years will primarily offer seating only made in North America.

For many years, Church Furniture Store has been offering chairs that are imported from China so that churches could purchase moderate-quality chairs at a lower cost. The Worship chair, Victory chair, Freedom chair and Multi chair have been prime sellers for the company, but with the implementation of September’s tariffs and the promise of higher tariffs looming, Church Furniture Store has vowed to support North American-made products that are higher quality.

For decades, many companies have opted to offer products manufactured in China as a low-cost option for customers. However, over the years, many companies have noticed a degradation in quality that many customers claim devalue products from that area of the world. Additionally, American customers routinely request products manufactured here in the states or in North America in an effort to support American and North American industry. The new tariffs mean that the cost of Chinese-made products are now comparable to the cost of American and North American-made products, and the selling point now is that of quality, in addition to contributing to the growth of American and North American companies.

Founded in 1991, Church Furniture Store, located at 685 Tripple Creek Road in Rocky Mount, Virginia, is known locally and nationally for the beautiful craftsmanship of wood furniture produced in its on-site wood shop. Seasoned wood workers hand craft both traditional and modern pieces, such as pulpit-area furniture and custom furnishings.

In addition to wood furniture made on site, the company offers a complete array of necessities for churches, including seating, classroom furniture, baptisteries and baptistery heaters, carpet, stained glass, and even steeples – all manufactured in the USA or North America. The churches that we have supported are located across the country and in 28 foreign countries.
