Founded in 1939, Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program, with millions of players and more than one million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and more than 80 other countries. During its nearly 80 years of existence, Little League has seen more than 40 million honored graduates, including political leaders, professional athletes, award-winning artists, and a variety of other influential members of society. Each year, millions of people follow the hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship that Little Leaguers display at the seven baseball and softball World Series events, the premier tournaments in youth sports.

There are 16 Little League Districts in Virginia. Each District has completed it’s District Tournaments where the most outstanding players from each League were selected to compete in their District Tournament. Each of those District Champions will compete at Starkey Park to determine the Virginia Little League Major Champion. The Virginia Champion will then advance to play at the Southeast Region Tournament in Warner-Robins, GA. The Southeast Region Champion will advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

Most of the Regional and World Series games  are televised on the ESPN/ABC sports network channels and is one of the network’s most watched sporting events. The 2018 broadcast schedule will feature a record 233 Little League International Tournament games on the ESPN family of networks and ABC.
