Downtown Roanoke Music Venue Awarded Nonprofit Status

the-spotThe Spot on Kirk’s Board of Directors has announced the organization has been formally granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. The positive determination will allow The Spot to accept tax-deductible donations from the community and broaden its access to resources.
Since its start in March, The Spot on Kirk has geared its operations toward bringing the art of live music to Roanoke while boosting the local economy and highlighting music education. The federal government’s acknowledgement is the result of a year-long process.
“There’s no way I could describe how good it feels,” said Jamie Miller, Venue Coordinator for The Spot on Kirk. “We have many supporters who believe in our mission and now we have official confirmation of our value to the community.”
To celebrate its status as a nonprofit organization and publicly recognize its new membership with the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce, The Spot on Kirk will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony next Tuesday, September 13th at 11:30am.
“When you’re finally awarded nonprofit status, you receive a simple piece of paper in the mail telling you so,” said Miller. “We wanted to share something more tangible, more symbolic of our growth with all of the people who’ve helped make it possible.”
Tuesday’s ceremony is open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. For more information about The Spot on Kirk, visit theSpotonKirk.org or find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
