The City Market Building Foundation has announced that it has appointed Elliot Broyles as the first executive director in the history of the Foundation.

In the newly created role, Broyles will oversee management and operations of the facility, tenant relations, marketing and event management, and promotion of the Market Building’s 3rd floor event space, Charter Hall.

“Following the extensive renovations in 2011, the City Market Building has flourished and continues to grow in popularity as a vibrant and active hub for community engagement in Downtown Roanoke,” Tony Pearman, Market Building Foundation chairman of the board said. “It was clear to the Foundation that it was time the City Market Building had a dedicated leader that could focus on the daily mission and engage in long-term visioning with the same enthusiasm this community has shown for the Market Building throughout the past century. Elliot is without a doubt that person.”

Broyles is a marketing professional with experience in event management, broadcast media and public relations. Most recently, he was the vice president of Sponsor Hounds and worked extensively on the opening, marketing and management of Dr. Pepper Park at the Bridges.

“I’m looking forward to this next chapter and am very eager to keep one of Roanoke’s most iconic structures moving forward,” Broyles remarked. “Engaging the community in meaningful ways is something I am passionate about and this is a fantastic opportunity to do that through the stewardship of one of this city’s most historic community resources.”

Broyles graduated from Virginia Western Community College with an associate degree in radio and television production and enjoys life in Roanoke with his wife, Missy, and 3-year-old son, Cortland.
