Local Restaurateur / Author Release Book About Life, Love, and Food

La_Folie_Forty_Cover_for_KindlePastry chef and the owner and operator of Roanoke’s Our Daily Bread, Thierry Tellier, and author, Jennifer Jones, have recently collaborated on a project unlike any other in which they have previously participated. Together, they have written a memoir of Thierry’s life thus far and a showcase of treasured recipes, both rolled into one.

La Folie Forty is more than just a book. In French, la folie means crazy, and the reader will have a firsthand glimpse into Thierry’s madcap forty years in the food industry. The book also offers a linear progression of glances into Thierry’s life—both through the written word and cherished family photographs—from his birth in the Loire Valley of France through moments in the current day New River Valley of Virginia.

Readers will be introduced to those who have kneaded Thierry into the man he has become, and will savor and recognize his lifelong dedication to cuisine through the collection of forty delectable recipes that accompany each story.

According to Editor, and fellow author, Richard Thomas, “La Folie Forty is a fascinating glimpse into the kitchen of a talented chef and passionate man. The recipes will make your mouth water, the stories of adversity and perseverance will fill your heart with inspiration, and the love for family will make you go hug your spouse and kids. A powerful book from start to finish…”

La Folie Forty will be released on December 12, 2015—the twenty-seventh anniversary of the Tellier family’s arrival in America. The book will be available for purchase online on that date, as well as in all three locations of Our Daily Bread in Roanoke, Blacksburg and Salem. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each book will help support culinary students in Southwest Virginia.

A special Cuisine Club Dinner to celebrate the book’s release will be held in the Blacksburg location of Our Daily Bread on December 12th at 6:30 p.m. This four-course meal’s menu will be based upon recipes shared within La Folie Forty. Wine pairings, per course, as well as an autographed copy of the book per family/reservation are also included. Visit http://www.odbb.com for more information or call (540) 953-2815 to purchase tickets for the event. Tickets are limited.
