Terriers Outlast Patrick Henry In 3-1 Volleyball Win

William Byrd used late surges in the first two sets, then pulled away in the fourth, as the Terriers outlasted Patrick Henry for the 3-1 volleyball win Wednesday night in the PH gym.

The first set saw the teams tied at 19 before Byrd went on a 5-2 run that got the Terriers to set point. PH scored the next two points to cut their deficit to 24-23, but Byrd scored the clincher for the 25-23 win.

Patrick Henry missed a golden opportunity take the second set when the Patriots broke an 18-18 tie to lead 22-20, but the Terriers stormed back to tie the set at 24 before taking the last two points for the 26-24 win.

The bright spot for PH came in the third set when the Patriots pulled out to a 12-8 lead and never looked back on their way to the convincing 25-13 win.

Byrd, however, regrouped in the deciding fourth set before cruising to the 25-18 match clincher.

Jordan Williamson led the Terrier attack with 12 kills, while Meredith Webb provided 24 assists for the Terriers. Bailey Price brought up 11 digs for Byrd.

Patrick Henry’s power came from Taylor Eichelberger’s 23 kills, with Abby Wolpert slamming down 13. Olivia Pullen set the table for the Patriots with 28 assists. Pullen and Wolpert had 13 and 8 digs, respectfully.
