Cave Spring girls tennis coach Susan Delp may have a ringing problem by the end of the weekend.

No, it’s not loud noises that will be the issue. Rather, there may be some significant jewelry shopping on the horizon.
Sweeping five straight singles matches Monday afternoon at Hunting Hills Country Club, Cave Spring defeated James Monroe 5-0 in the 3A state semifinals.
The Knights now advance to Saturday’s 3A final at Liberty University for a 1:00 match against Western Albemarle. No doubt this one will be hotly contested after Cave Spring won the last meeting between the two, 5-4 on May 28th in the 3A West Regional Final, ending Western Albemarle’s 45-match winning streak.
Along with the team title at stake, Susan Delp’s two daughters, Fallon and Reagan, will looking to add three more rings to the shopping cart.
Fallon takes on York’s Gaby Tersigni Thursday morning at 10 on the Liberty University courts in the 3A singles semifinals. The winner advances to the singles final at 1:00 pm that same day.
Friday at Liberty, the Delp sisters will take on James Monroe’s Lucy Castles and L.C. King in a 10:00 am doubles semifinal match, with the winner likewise advancing to the final at 1:00 pm.
The doubles will be a rematch of Monday’s doubles at Hunting Hills, which never reached conclusion after Cave Spring secured its fifth and clinching point in singles. At the time, the Delps had taken the first set, with the second tied.
That all adds up to a potential three championship rings for Fallon and two for Reagan.
With storms on the horizon Monday, Cave Spring went right to work against the talented Yellow Jackets.
Fallon Delp masterfully defeated Castles 6-2; 6-2 in the #1 singles. Reagan Delp breezed by senior Emily Frank 6-1; 6-0 in the #3 singles and Caitlin Carter topped James Monroe senior L.C. KIng 6-1; 6-1in quick fashion in the #2 singles.
Knight Christy Goldsmith got Cave Spring to within one point of the win when she defeated Libby King in the #5 singles  6-4: 7-6 (7-2). Veronica Hamilton then provided the match-clincher with a come-from-behind 6-4; 3-6; 6-4 win over Yellow Jacket junior Catesby Willis in the #4 singles.
Fallon Delp admitted Monday that the road ahead, playing at three levels at Liberty, will be challenging.
“The competition keeps getting better,” Fallon noted. “When you’re playing in all three (levels of competition) you have to balance everything. It’s one match after another, so you have to be ready. Today it was really hot, but I was cable to stay focused.”
“Today was the first time I’ve ever played Fallon,” Lucy Castles said while waiting out the other singles. “She’s a great player. I played pretty well today. It looks like we’ll be playing again in doubles on Friday, so I’ll just play my game and try to be more consistant.”
