Sunday afternoon, at Roanoke County’s Dwight Bogle Stadium, brought crisp temperatures, sunny skies and a big winner for the fight against breast cancer.
The fifth annual Dave Ross Biddy Bowl pitted four pee-wee football teams in games that brought in nearly $ 4,000 for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure, Virginia, Blue Ridge.
The Glenvar Bulldogs and Northeast Hurricanes battled it out in the opener, followed by the Cave Spring Knights and Franklin County Blue Devils in the afternoon’s finale. Cheerleaders from all four biddy teams also participated in the exciting festivities.
Komen for the Cure is the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1 billion since its inception in 1982. The promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring the quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
The Komen Virginia Blue Ridge Region reaches women in 32 cities and counties throughout the Roanoke, Central, Southside and Southwest Virginia areas.
