Roanoke’s professional theatre has announced auditions for its upcoming production of To Kill A Mockingbird. Mill Mountain Theatre will hold auditions on Saturday, June 7 for five adult roles and three children’s roles. All are non-Equity roles for the production to run Oct. 1-12, 2014 on the Trinkle Main Stage. Rehearsals begin Sept. 12.
Here are details of the June 7 auditions:
- Performers are being sought to play these parts: Stephanie Crawford, a woman in her 40s or 50s; Walter Cunningham, a farmer; Heck Tate, the sheriff in his 30s or 40s; Nathan Radley, a neighbor of the lead character; Mr. Gilmer, the prosecuting attorney in his 40s or 50s; Scout, a young girl; Jem, a pre-teen boy, and Dill, a pre-teen boy.
- Actors should prepare a monologue in the style of the play to be delivered with a Southern dialect.
- All auditions will be held in Mill Mountain Theatre’s Waldron Stage on the ground floor of Center on Church, 20 Church Ave., downtown Roanoke.
- Auditions will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
