“Rebuilding Together – Roanoke” just wrapped up its 15th Annual National Rebuilding Day. The group worked with more than 650 volunteers to rebuild the homes and lives of low-income homeowners in the Roanoke Valley.
The projects were completed by Building Specialists and over 25 local subcontractors and suppliers.
One such homeowner was identified as a “Ms. Jones” who lives on Thirlane Rd in Roanoke. She has lived in her home her entire life and has never been able to perform any major renovations. Over the last month, volunteers from Building Specialists rehabbed the 100-year old house.
Repairs included: electrical upgrade, plumbing repairs, kitchen and bath renovations, painting, flooring repairs, landscaping, and the re-construction of a screened in porch. Volunteers also donated new kitchen appliances and furnishings, living room furniture, and floor coverings.
