Governor’s School Announces First Place Winners of Regional Science and Engineering Fair

On Saturday, March 15, over 100 gifted and talented students from the school districts of Covington City, Roanoke City, and Roanoke County, plus students from the Jackson River Governor’s School and the Roanoke Valley Governor’s School competed in the 2014 Western Virginia Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Hollins University.

Students earned the opportunity to compete at the regional fair by receiving first or second place awards at their school, city or county science fairs last month, and students who received first place awards at the regional fair will advance to the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair at Virginia Military Institute on March 29. The following local students received first place awards in their categories at the regional fair:
