Officer Cynthia Berrman of the Roanoke City Police Department was recognized as Officer of Year for 2013 by the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce. Officer Berrman was commended for her part in apprehending suspects in an attempted robbery.
Last fall, Officer Berrman was on patrol when she noticed a car with a tail light out. She also noted that the car matched the description of a recently attempted robbery at a convenience store. The driver matched the description of the robbery suspect as well. Because of Officer Berrman’s quick observations and attention to detail, she was able to get a confession and bring charges against the attempted robbery suspect.
