The Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech will celebrate the sounds of the season with a sold-out performance of “Holiday Pops” by the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m.
The performance is co-presented by the New River Valley Friends of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and will be held in the Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre, located within the Moss Arts Center’s Street and Davis Performance Hall at 190 Alumni Mall.
The orchestra marks its Moss Arts Center debut with its most popular concert program of the year. Music Director and Conductor David Stewart Wiley will lead the orchestra as they perform a selection of music ranging from beloved holiday carols to sacred classics.
The Roanoke Symphony Orchestra will be joined by the Roanoke Symphony Chorus and the Virginia Tech Choirs under the direction of Dwight Bigler, assistant professor in the Department of Music and director of choral activities at Virginia Tech.
Also featured will be vocalist Joy Lynn Jacobs. Jacobs has been in several Broadway productions, including the revival of “The Music Man” and the world premiere of “Marie Christine” in the role of Beatrice. She has also appeared in the first national Broadway tour productions of “Ragtime” and “Show Boat.” Jacobs created the role of Power Woman for the off-Broadway production, “Menopause the Musical,” which she starred in for four years.
