Feeding America Southwest Virginia has announced that Linda F. Smith has generously donated a new Kenworth truck and fifty three foot refrigerated utility trailer to be used by the Food Bank for high volume, long-haul pick-ups and deliveries of food to help the hungry throughout Southwest Virginia.

The slogan on the trailer reads: “Dedicated to Fighting Hunger and Changing Lives in Southwest Virginia.”  The tailgate of the trailer announces:  “Yummies for the Tummies.”

“We’re very excited about the gift of a much needed new large capacity tractor and trailer.  This gift will serve the Food Bank for many years.  Feeding America Southwest Virginia depends on donors like Linda to support our mission of feeding those in need,” said Pamela Irvine, President and CEO of Feeding America Southwest Virginia.

The truck unveiling and ribbon cutting took place last Friday at Feeding America Southwest Virginia’s Salem Distribution Center located at 1025 Electric Road and was attended by Linda F. Smith, Food Bank staff, Board Members, food suppliers and Food Bank supporters. Following the ribbon cutting Mrs. Smith was given a ride in the new truck.
