Roanoke Economic Development to Offer Business Education Workshops

­ The City of Rooanoke Department of Economic Development in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Business Assistance and Valley Bank will offer two business related workshops on Tuesday, September 24.  The workshops are free to business owners and the general public and each will be held in the Persinger Room on the second floor of Greene
Memorial United Methodist Church located at 402 Second Street, S. W. in downtown Roanoke.

Technology in Business takes place from 9 -­ 11 am.  This one-of-a-kind workkshop updates participants on how today’s innovative technologies canhelp a business become more efficient, productive and profitable. This workshop is perfect for small businesses and organizations struggling to incorporate technology into their day to day operations. Participants learn about mobile and social media marketing, cloud storage, mobile credit card processing, and equipment to include smart phones and tablets to increase productivity.

Credit Counseling is offered from 1 -­ 3 pm.  Credit can affect many aspects of your life whether buying a home, financing a vehicle, renting property, or even qualifying for a job.  The Credit Counseling workshop assists the participant with ways to improve credit ratings.  Participants will learn how to read a credit report, receive an understanding of how scores are determined, learn the warning signs of too much debt, and learn essentials of the loan process and valuable tips for using credit cards.
