Roanoke Reflections

Roanoke Reflections (640x443)The Franklin Plaza Building takes on a whole new look as the sun begins to set and storm clouds roll over downtown Roanoke. Originally built in 1985, the property presently sits in the midst of a lot of activity. On the right side of the structure it’s easy to see the reflection of the Norfolk Southern Office Building as well as a portion of the recently renovated Roanoke City Parking Garage that will soon be sporting a full service hotel upon it’s upper decks. The left side of the mirror-like facade offers an artistic rendering of the City’s Williamson Road parking garage as well as Mill Mountain and its crazily reflected star that appears in two separate panes of glass. But the busiest area is on the opposite side of the building where construction of Roanoke’s new Elmwood Park Amphitheater is in full swing and just up the street the I-581 interchange is being completely overhauled. Quieter days are surely ahead . . . but no time soon. (Amazing photo by Terry Aldhizer.)
