Emergency Responders All Fired Up

Fired Up for the Cure featured group workouts, vendors, raffles – and a pink fire truck from Chesapeake.

The Roanoke City Fire and Rescue Dept. staged its first ever “Fired Up for the Cure” at the Roanoke Civic Center, raising money and awareness for the issue of breast cancer. The event featured 5K and 10K races that started and ended at the Roanoke Civic Center, with a course laid out through parts of downtown and northwest Roanoke. There were also workouts led by Gold’s Gym trainers, raffles for donated gift baskets, vendors of assorted personal products, the Lifeguard 10 helicopter, free ice skating inside the Civic Center – and a pink fire truck, in honor of breast cancer awareness – from the Chesapeake Fire Dept.
