Apple Ridge Farm Receives $25,000 Grant Award

The Walmart Foundation and the Virginia Advisory Council  have made a ,000 grant award to Apple Ridge Farm .

Apple Ridge has a long history of supporting economically challenged children and offering special opportunities to broaden their education including: The RAP (Reading Adventure Program); The Aspire Connect Program (Academic, Peer, Family and Community Engagement); and a yearly Academic Summer Camp.

Younger campers participate in reading, writing, math and language arts and older campers visit between several colleges each summer.  The college visits provide students with valuable information that gives them an understanding of the opportunities available to them when they choose to continue their education.

“We have had outstanding support from Walmart over the last few years,” said  Apple Ridge President Peter Lewis. ” This wonderful contribution will be used to help underwrite our 23rd Annual Academic Summer Camp. Gifts from individuals, organizations, foundations and corporations, enable us to continue the tradition of offering our summer camp to families without a fee.”
