W. Lee Wilhelm was recognized at Monday’s Roanoke City council meeting as the 2010 Citizen of the Year. He served six years as President of the Board of Directors of the YMCA of the Roanoke Valley and seven years as Chairman of the “Total Action Against Poverty This Valley Works” Board of Commissioners.
He served thirteen years as a member of the Council of Community Services Board; four years as Treasurer of the United Way of the Roanoke Valley; five years as a member of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, including Vice-Chair, Chair-Elect, Chair and Past-Chair of Economic Development.
Wilhelm is a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. He was honored for his “generous and selfless contributions to the community.”
