Good Dirty Fun!

Did you think everyone in the Roanoke Valley was preparing for the big Virginia Tech game last Saturday morning? Not quite. More than 2,000 people were somewhere in the vicinity of Salem’s Green Hill Park, participating in, watching or working the 14th annual Marine Mud Run. The event, which includes an open 5K, a Team 5K and a “Pollywog Jog” (for 12 and under), is a major fundraiser for Toys for Tots and Camp Roanoke. The popular event garners sponsorship from more than 30 companies including Kroger, Aztec Rental, Krispy Kreme, Star City Cycle, ITT, the VA State Police, and of course the Marine Reserves.
