Brent Sowers, center fielder for the Roanoke/Salem Virginians, catches a potential run-scoring fly ball for an out against the opposing Ohio Capitals team out of Columbus, Ohio. The Roanoke/Salem based Virginians were among the 19 teams competing in the NSA World Series fast pitch softball tournament last weekend at the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem. The Roanoke Valley was once home to many men’s fastball teams, which has given way in recent years to slow pitch softball.
