Local Author Reexamines Peanuts Gang in New Book, “A Charlie Brown Religion”

ACBR_Cover_1i (533x800)With the new The Peanuts Movie in theaters, it is the year of Snoopy, and local author Stephen Lind is sharing new insights with fans. Spending time with the Peanuts artist’s family over the past 5 years, the Washington & Lee University business communication professor has written a provocative new book on the franchise and its creator, A Charlie Brown Religion: Exploring the Spiritual Life and Work of Charles M. Schulz.

In his new book, Lind reveals new stories about the spiritual history of Charlie Brown and Charles Schulz. The book offers new insights and histories of the 17,897 Peanuts comics, 75 animated specials, and Schulz’s personal life, including photos and letters not previously published.

Meredith Schulz Hodges, on of Schulz’s daughters, said of the book, “I don’t think anyone has written about my dad and truly captured the essence of his character as completely and thoroughly as Stephen Lind has in this book.”

Lind continues to celebrate the book’s release including signing books at local events (Roanoke Valley View Barnes & Noble – Dec. 12, 5-8pm) and sending signed “bookplates” available through www.ACharlieBrownReligion.com.

“If you were to tell 12-year-old me that I would have a chance to spend time going through old photos and stories with the family of Charles Schulz,” said Lind, “I wouldn’t know how to believe it. But that’s become my life! And I couldn’t be happier.”

More information about Lind and his work can be found on www.ACharlieBrownReligion.com. The book is available through Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and other major retailers.
