Since the article appeared in The Roanoke Star in August last year I was delighted to receive a number of contacts from residents of the area who were all eager to help me solve the mystery of the house I visited some thirty years hence.

I was able to obtain a full history of the property, which – I discovered –is in Floyd County, and is now a happy place lived in by the Harrell family. Thanks to their son, Glen, for getting in touch and sending me an up to date photo of the property.

Full details of the history can be found on my website blog (click on older blog posts) on www.finchlark.webs.com Surprisingly, the history shows that my imagination was not too far off when I wrote the book Curse of the Dogwood, based on the house.

It’s been incredible to find out the full history of the Copper Hill house. I would like to say a big thank you to Sharon Shaver Wood for the time she has taken, and to her First Cousin Marie Hollins Gish Wagnitz. Also to Jackie Newell and to Rita Weddell and finally Joe Young who scoured Google Earth looking for the property.

Curse of the Dogwood is available from amazon as an e-book and is shortly due to be published in paperback.
