Teams continue practice and preseason scrimmages this week as the opening weekend of high school football begins on Friday, August 28th. That Friday night five “Big-11” teams host openers as Pulaski County visits Northside, Patrick Henry travels down Grandin Road for a matchup with Hidden Valley at Dwight Bogle Stadium, Glenvar plays host to Galax in Highlander Heaven, Cave Spring visits Terrier Stadium to take on William Byrd and the lights go on at Vinyard Field for Roanoke Catholic’s opener against Rappahannock County. The following day, North Cross takes on Nansemond Suffolk for a 2:00 kickoff in the Raiders’ season opener at Thomas Field.
