Patrick Henry Rolls To Team Title In 50th COSMO Invitational

It was all Patrick Henry Saturday afternoon in the boys team competition of the 50th annual Cosmopolitan Invitational track meet., as the Patriots pulled off the runaway victory over second place Blacksburg.

The high point of the meet for PH came in the 400 relay, as Patriot runners Azavier Kirtley,Rasheed Whorley, Fezawn Scott and Alec Mini combined for a time of 43.33 seconds to narrowly set the new COSMO record by one-hundredth of a second over the 22-year record previously held by William Fleming.
Whorley also impressed, winning the 100-meter and 200-meter titles, while Kirtley took home the gold in the 400-meter.

In other team results in the boys championship division among “Big-11” competitors, William Fleming finished 3rd, William Byrd 6th, Lord Botetourt 7th, Salem 9th, Hidden Valley 11th, Glenvar 14th, Cave Spring 15th and Northside 17th.

In the girls team championship action, William Byrd finished 2nd, Hidden Valley 5th, Northside 7th, Salem and William Fleming tied at 8th, Lord Botetourt 11th and PH 14th.

William Fleming came in first in the junior boys team division, with William Byrd 2nd, Cave Spring 4th, Patrick Henry 7th, Glenvar 8th, Lord Botetourt and Salem tied at 11th, while Hidden Valley came in 13th.

The junior girls division had Cave Spring 1st, William Fleming 3rd, Salem 5th, PH 8th, Glenvar 9th, William Byrd 11th, Northside 13th and Roanoke Catholic 16th.

Middle school team results in the boys division included Andrew Lewis 2nd, Lucy Addison 3rd, Cave Spring and Northside tied for 5th, James Madison 7th, Stonewall Jackson 8th, Read Mountain 9th, William Byrd 10th, Glenvar 12th, Breckenridge 14th and
Hidden Valley 15th.

The girls middle school division found Andrew Lewis at 2nd, James Madison and Cave Spring tied for 5th, Read Mountain 7th, William Byrd and Hidden Valley tied at 8th, Stonewall Jackson, 10trh, Lucy Addison 12th, Northside 13th, Glenvar 15th and
Breckenridge 16th.
