American Heart Association Announces New Roanoke Heart Ball and Go Red For Women Director

The American Heart Association has named Shannon Cavendish as the new Director of Development for the Roanoke Heart Ball and Roanoke Go Red For Women Luncheon.

Prior to joining the American Heart Association, Cavendish was in marketing and advertising. She spent the last 15 years with Wheeler Broadcasting as a Senior Account Executive. She is a mother of two daughters and is very involved with their gymnastics and competitive cheer teams. Shannon is also an avid runner and enjoys doing Tough Mudder races with a team at her gym, the MudFreaks.  She recently completed her third Mudder in September.   She also currently serves as a Head Coach for Girls on the Run Green Valley.

“I live my life promoting exercise and health to my children, mom and the girls I coach,” shares Cavendish.  “I look forward to furthering the American Heart Association and Go Red For Women initiatives here in Roanoke.”

Heart disease and stroke are the first and fourth leading causes of death in the United States. The Roanoke Heart Ball is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2015. The 2015 Roanoke Go Red For Women Luncheon is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 21.  All funds raised benefit heart disease and stroke research and prevention education.
