With glowing reviews and strong audiences nationwide, the DIY Network original documentary-style series starring Robert Kulp and Mike Whiteside of Black Dog Salvage, Inc. has featured everything from a cast iron, 16’ tall Germanic Warrior on a horse to an amusement park rocket, historic homes and an enormous textile mill.

“We’ve been having a great time with this whole adventure,” said Black Dog co-Owner, Mike Whiteside. “It’s been fun to learn just how many people share a passion for the salvage hunt and respect for the reclamation of endangered architectural elements.”

“We are very excited about what this means for our entire community,” said Black Dog co-owner Robert Kulp. “Salvage Dawgs gives us a chance to introduce the extraordinary people of SW Virginia, the historic richness of the region and fascinating properties with an expanded number of people nationwide.”

Salvage Dawgs chronicles the adventures and creativity of Black Dog Salvage Inc. – a Virginia-based architectural salvage business. Praised for the humorous family-friendly banter amongst the team, a suspenseful approach to presenting the salvage process and useful information about how to reuse the items they find – Salvage Dawgs has proven to be an engaging and entertaining television show that the whole family can enjoy.

Clearly the idea has struck a chord with historical enthusiasts, architectural buffs and do-it-yourselfers. Black Dog Salvage has seen a noticeable increase in visitors to their 40,000+ sq. ft. warehouse-style marketplace, where many of the unique, historical and amusing treasures found during Salvage Dawgs filming are for sale. “We used to be a place that folks dropped in to visit on their way someplace else; now we are the destination,” said Black Dog Salvage General Manager Grant Holmes. “You only need to look at the license plates on the cars in the lot on a Saturday; it’s like a geography lesson.”

Black Dog Salvage, is located at 902 13th Street, SW – near the Memorial Bridge and Grandin Village in Roanoke, VA.
