Southwest Virginia Ballet Announces 25th Anniversary

During a recent Roanoke City Council Meeting, the Office of the Mayor presented Southwest Virginia Ballet with a Proclamation declaring Monday, June 16th, 2014 as “Southwest Virginia Ballet Day.” The Proclamation was accepted by Pedro Szalay, SVB’s Artistic Director and SVB’s Executive Director Nancy Kelderhouse.

The Southwest Virginia Ballet has announced its 25th Anniversary Season. A gathering of SVB supporters, board members, alumni and others joined Vice-Mayor David Trinkle at the Roanoke Performing Arts Special Events Center to announce the 2014-2015 full-length productions of The Nutcracker, Cinderella as well as other special performances and events.

The 25th Anniversary Season will celebrate the groups continued commitment to quality dance instruction, professional productions, artistic excellence, community partnerships, and expanded outreach. SVB gives hundreds of free tickets to Human Service agencies.

According to Executive Director Nancy Kelderhouse, SVB’s mission for the next 25 years goes beyond the steps performed on the stage. “The mission of 25 years is unchanged – we make the performing arts experience available to all ages, from all walks of life.”

A free professional performance by Mamluft and Co Dance, from Cincinnati is planned for Saturday, October 18th at Mill Mountain Theatre.
