Nancy Agee, President and Chief Executive Officer of Carilion Clinic, will be the featured speaker at the Rescue Mission of Roanoke’s annual Church Secretary Appreciation Day on May 21st from 12:00-1:30pm.

At the event, the Rescue Mission, community, and Auxiliary members will celebrate the service of those men and women who act as church administrative representatives.

Nancy Agee began her career at Carilion as a CNA, and gradually worked her way up to the esteemed position she holds today. This has informed her style of leadership. In 1996, she was appointed Vice President, and she began her position of President and CEO in 2011. Agee serves on a vast variety of local boards, including: The Taubman Museum, HomeTown Bank, and Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. She has previously served as the chair of Radford University’s Board of Visitors and the Foundation of Roanoke Valley.

Carilion Clinic includes multiple hospitals, medical schools, and a multi-specialty physician group.

“Having Nancy Agee speak at our Church Secretary Appreciation Day is exciting because she is a living example of how God can use our talents and skills when we make ourselves available. So much of her work is done behind the scenes (just like that of Church Secretaries). She is one of the most humble leaders I know in Roanoke. Nancy’s contributions to SW Virginia and, more specifically, to those who have been marginalized in our community is a testimony to what Servant Leadership is all about,” said Joy Sylvester-Johnson, CEO of the Rescue Mission.

Along with Agee, the event will include a complimentary lunch, music by the Mission Band, speakers from the Rescue Mission’s Program, Mission Cheerleaders, and more to honor church secretaries.
