Representatives from HBM Architects of Cleveland, Ohio, revealed their plans for a new, 20,000-square-foot Vinton Branch Library at a community meeting this week.

The new library replaces the current facility on Washington Avenue in Vinton, which is the oldest in the system and lacks a suitable children’s area and dedicated teen space.

“Everything in a building this age is a retrofit, especially in regards to technology,” said Library Director Diana Rosapepe. “The new library has many exciting features to better serve the citizens of Vinton and will add a fresh and dramatic look to the downtown corridor.”

Other features of the library include a large children’s area, a dedicated teen room, a drive-through book pick-up window, and after-hours book lockers.

The Dunman Floral Supply building will be razed to make way for the new Vinton Branch Library.
