The Friends of the Booker T. Washington National Monument and the Booker T. Washington Living History Guild will create a unique experience for groups, families and all discerning theatergoers and history lovers with their presentation of Murder and Mayhem: The Death of John Boyd, Jr. on Saturday July 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church located at 15 Glenwood Drive, Rocky Mount, VA.
The play is based on a true-life event which occurred in Franklin County in 1864. Cast members will portray the actual historical figures involved in the case. The audience will be immersed in the dramatic action by their own participation while enjoying a tasty brunch.
Proceeds from the performance will benefit the Booker T. Washington National Monument by supporting its annual Juneteenth Celebration which is offered to the community each year free of charge.
