Cave Spring pulled off the sweep of the girls/boys soccer doubleheader Tuesday evening at the Hidden Valley soccer field, as the Knights boys knocked off the Titans 2-1 in a match that went to the final minute.
Earlier, in the afternoon’s opener, the Cave Spring girls defeated Hidden Valley 2-0, as Kayla Hull netted both goals for the Knights and Cave Spring goalkeeper Haley Mitchell stoned the Lady Titans with seven saves to preserve the shutout.
The boy’s nightcap saw Hidden Valley jump out to a 1-0 lead before the Knights executed a late comeback in dramatic fashion.
Cave Spring tied the game thirty minutes into the second half on freshman middie Paxton Daniel’s goal, then scored the winner with one minute left in regulation when senior Will Bradley headed a corner kick from senior forward Kyle Gunville into the net.
The boys win tightened things up in the River Ridge as Cave Spring improved to 3-2 (7-4 overall), while Hidden Valley fell to 3-1-1 (6-3-2 overall).
