Lady Titans Rally for 53-46 Win Over Cave Spring

Cave Spring’s girls basketball team came to play Tuesday night in the opener of the girls/boys varsity doubleheader at the Hidden Valley gym.

With Hidden Valley firmly entrenched with a first-round district tournament bye and the Lady Knights looking for some late-season magic, Cave Spring gave the Lady Titans a run for their money before Hidden Valley prevailed 53-46.

Cave Spring head coach Jessica Ficarro’s squad could best be described as scrappy from the outset. The Lady Knights led 14-8 after the first quarter and 25-21 at the halftime break as Cave Spring put itself in position for the upset.Cave Spring continued to lead by a score of 37-32 late in the third quarter before Hidden Valley closed with a 5-0 run to enter the final frame tied at 37.

Head coach Randy Bush’s Titans took control with a 13-2 scoring spree to start the fourth quarter for a 50-39 advantage and the Titans held on down the stretch to improve to 8-2 in the River Ridge.

Hidden Valley was led by Hailey Singleton’s game-high 14 points, while seniors Kelly King and Kelsi Bailey each contributed 12 for HIdden Valley. Gracie Whiteside rounded out the Titan double-figure scoring with 10 points.

Taylor Asimakopoulos paced the Lady Knights with 12 points, while Cait Flippen chipped in 11 for Cave Spring.
