Project Awesome To Provide New Music Event Just For Teens

Levi’s Gene Pool

Roanoke County Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism will present “Project Awesome” at the Brambleton Center located at 3738 Brambleton Ave. On December 29th from 8 PM until Midnight teens can rock out to the sounds of Levi’s Gene Pool, The Stilettos, and the beats of Harvest Blaque while dancing the night away with friends. Teens can come for music, food, friends and more. Admission is $5 at the door, cash only.

As one of the area’s youngest performing bands, Levi’s Gene Pool has been rocking Blacksburg and beyond for over 3 years. The band consists of siblings Levi on guitar and vocals, Holly on drums, and Phillip on bass. The Stilettos is an all-female band that blends a retro vibe with their own unique interpretation of songs. With members Erin Cao (lead vocals), Nicci Stiles (guitar), Sarah Melendez (bass), and Taylor Paige Spencer (drums), the girls mix things up to bring an old school rock and roll sound to a new school audience.

Keeping the music going will be Harvest Blaque (Bryan Hancock). Born and raised in Roanoke, he infuses the sounds of old school hip hop with blues and rock undertones to create an innovative, new school sound that he calls “soul hop.” Harvest has a passion for music and gives every project his very all.

All proceeds will benefit Roanoke County’s Arts and Entertainment Conference, a two day celebration of the arts and entertainment industry scheduled for April 12-13, 2013. The conference will include an opening reception and program, full day of workshops, vendors, autograph signings, film screenings, networking and a closing gala.
