From 1955 to 1960, Brooklyn photographer, Winston Link, traveled to photograph and document the end of the steam locomotive era on the Norfolk and Western Railway- the last major line to exclusively operate under steam power. During those five years, Link captured more than 2,400 images.

The O. Winston Link Museum exhibits this body of work as well as the history of the N&W Railway. Artifacts, films and interactive displays compliment the more than 250 dramatic black and white and color photographs taken throughout the Mountains of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.

The Western Virginia Land Trust is a community-based, private, non-profit organization that works to promote the conservation of western Virginia’s natural resources–farms, forests, waterways and rural landscapes.
