New Roanoke Ghost Tour to Provide Thrilling Local Stories

Sponsor Hounds, a local event company that also produces the Woofstock Dog Festival, the Blue Ridge Bike Fest and the Roanoke Wing Fest is “pulling out all the stops” for a new family friendly Halloween activity for the Roanoke Valley.

President Waynette Anderson says “We’ve partnered with the History Museum of Western Virginia & the Commonwealth Coach and Trolley Museum to create a production we believe will become a popular Halloween tradition for families.”

For the past 2 years Sponsor Hounds has also produced the Halloween Blast, but the company has decided to create “the Roanoke Ghost Tour” based on the number of requests they received from citizens wanting something that they could bring their children to.

Many cities have established ghost tours and it’s a popular way to learn the history of the city you are in and also enjoy some fun stories about haunted areas. The Roanoke Ghost Tour will take place every Saturday in October starting at 7 p.m.  The tour bus will depart from Downtown Roanoke, with reservations being accepted for the last 3 weekends in October. A professional actor will act as  guide for the evening and although the tour is primarily on the bus, ghost seekers will be asked to exit the bus twice during the tour to get closer to where the story occurred.

“We are very excited to have both the History Museum of Western Virginia & the Commonwealth Coach and Trolley Museum working with us on this event. Without their help we would not be able to provide such a quality tour for our guests,” said Anderson. Tickets are $10 each and require reservations in advance by calling (540)206-2414.
